dive into the sketchbook

these pieces are among some of my personal favourites, i loved playing with the different colours, lighting and techniques.

lost in the woods

I loved creating this one, focusing on the lights and shadows to bring a magical feeling.

moggy waters

I love this one, the blending of colours and rippling effect in the  water.

mountain valleys

This is quite possibly one of my favourites in my journal. It really did feel as though I was there.

summertime sadness

Again, playing with the shadows brought this one to life. Reminds me of that end of summer sadness, forlorn and gripping tightly onto the good times.

eat me

This was a first attempt at painting foods. I enjoyed the process, until it became overwhelmingly irritating. Long process, but I like the final result.

water falling

I loved the colour scheme in this piece, it was enjoyable, even though water can be incredibly difficult to paint.

light study

This isn't an original idea, as I was trying to play around with the lights and underpainting. The original idea I found on Pinterest, but I can't seem to relocate the piece to give credit. However, this is one of my favourite painty doodles. I love the colours.

Original piece based off an old friends photo she took in the lake district. One cloudy and stormy summers day.

Get lost in the woods with me.

The delicate space between joy and yearning, where colours blend sweetness with an ache loneliness.

norway

I created this piece based off a photo an old friend had taken on holiday in Norway, I was trying to find my style (I suppose I still am.) I could pick this one apart but its still sort of special.

animation

I've always had a great love for animation, in particular the older styles as I find them more beautiful and organic. Old Disney and Studio Ghibli are my absolute favourites. Hayao Miyazaki is one of my most beloved artists and I find his work to be so whimsical and beautiful.
